Initial situation

Spiekermann GmbH Consulting Engineers provides engineering services in particular to public clients - including in the areas of rail transport, public transport, roads and motorways, airports and civil engineering structures. The service portfolio includes analyses, concepts, planning, project management and support in the implementation of construction projects.

Sales losses in the first half of 2020 as well as the implementation of projects with negative contribution margins led to a liquidity bottleneck. As a result, Spiekermann filed an application to open insolvency proceedings in self-administration at the Düsseldorf District Court in July 2020.

A nationally and internationally oriented investor process was initiated, for which Restrukturierungspartner were exclusively responsible.

Services

In the course of an M&A process lasting approximately 13 weeks, Spiekermann GmbH Consulting Engineers was sold to the strategic investor Dorsch Gruppe.

With around 2,000 employees, the Dorsch Gruppe is one of the largest independent planning and consulting groups in Germany and is represented internationally with several branches and a large number of project offices in more than 40 countries.

Restrukturierungspartner were responsible for coordinating the entire transaction process. This included:
